The Kremlin cautions the United States against facilitating assaults on Russia.
Ukraine may utilize American weaponry to shield itself against Russia, as per US Secretary of State Blinken. He also deems assaults on Russian territory as a possibility. Kremlin spokesman Peskov quickly responded, emphasizing the risks. This stance is deemed "absolutely irresponsible" and "absolutely dangerous."
The Kremlin has cautioned the U.S. against arming Ukraine for strikes on Russian soil. "This is an entirely unwise and hazardous position," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian state television, responding to a report in the American newspaper, "The New York Times." Peskov was commenting on a report stating that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken favors such attacks and aims to persuade President Joe Biden to lift the restrictions.
Spokespeople in D.C. and several European capitals, Moscow argued, continuously provoke an escalation. "There are hotheads in the U.S. who view it their duty to stoke the fire," said Peskov. Despite this, he acknowledged that "it is now clear to all the experts that no weapons can turn the tide in the area of the special military operation." The weapon supply only prolongs the conflict for the Ukrainians.
The U.S. State Department declined to comment on the New York Times report. "We've made it clear that we neither condone nor enable strikes inside Russia, a longstanding policy," a representative said in response to a query. However, Ukraine has "indeed successfully defended itself against the threat of aerial attacks." The country will continue to receive support in strengthening its air defenses to protect its people from Russian assaults.
During his visit to Kiev last week, US Secretary of State Blinken vowed American commitment to helping Ukraine win the war. "We've shown this by providing extraordinary support," Blinken stated. Nevertheless, the U.S. has not encouraged or facilitated attacks outside of Ukraine. "Ultimately, it's up to Ukraine to decide how it wants to fight this war – a war being fought in the defense of its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi demands that the U.S. and other Western allies be permitted to use the supplied weapons for strikes against Russia. The country has primarily used domestically produced weapons for these purposes thus far.
