The jungle becomes a primetime show

Now everyone should quickly mark January 19 in red in their calendars. Because it's now certain that the 17th season of "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!" will kick off on this day. There will also be a change to the broadcasting time.

January is jungle time - also next year. "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!" will start its 17th season on Friday, January 19, 2024. RTL has now officially announced this.

It will kick off with a three-hour live show. And for the first time in prime time at 8.15 pm. On the second day, Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen will also report live from the Australian jungle in primetime, but then only for two hours.

There will be four primetime broadcasts in the new season of "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus! In addition to the broadcasts on the first two days, RTL will also show the jungle camp in prime time on both Sundays. But only briefly, as the channel switches from Australia to the USA from 8.55 pm. RTL then broadcasts the playoffs of the National Football League (NFL). The knockout mode in the football league starts a week before the jungle camp, on January 13, 2024. In addition to the four primetime editions, the live broadcast of "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!" will be shown every day at 10.15 p.m. as usual.

The jungle finale is scheduled for Sunday, February 4. The following day, "The big reunion" will be on the program before the candidates meet again on February 18 for an "epilogue" on RTL. Also on board this year: Dr. Bob, who will be on hand to give the celebrities advice, support and first aid. And of course there will also be "The Hour After" again in 2024, in which the events in the camp will be thoroughly reviewed after the broadcast from Australia.

Two celebrities have been confirmed

RTL has already confirmed two prominent participants in the jungle camp. Heinz Hoenig was announced as the first candidate. The actor from TV multi-part series such as "Der Schattenmann" and "Der König von St. Pauli" is a big name who will be joining the camp. "I've never done anything like Jungle Camp before," explained Hoenig." Why is he taking part? "It's a challenge, I'm keen on it. And that's why I'm going. Period."

The second candidate is Cora Schumacher. The racing driver and ex-wife of former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher is "on a journey to find myself". She is "really looking forward to getting to know myself anew". She hopes "that viewers will perhaps get to know me in this way and accompany me on my journey to myself". Perhaps she will actually succeed in following in the footsteps of reigning jungle queen Djamila Rowe.

Other potential candidates include footballer's son Nico Legat, "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" actor Felix von Jascheroff and former "Germany's next Topmodel" participant Anya Elsner. However, it is still only a rumor that they will also be going into the jungle. RTL has not (yet) confirmed this.
