Hollywood star George Clooney (63) supports Kamala Harris (59) in her campaign. "We are excited to support Vice President-elect Harris in her historic task," Clooney stated in a statement, quoted in "Entertainment Weekly".
At the same time, prominent Democrat supporter Joe Biden (81) praised Harris: "President Biden has shown what true leadership means. He has saved democracy again." Biden had announced the previous Sunday (21. July) that he would not run for the office of President again. Previously, criticism of a renewed candidacy from the 81-year-old had grown louder.

Clooney also called for Biden's withdrawal from the campaign in a guest article for the "New York Times". In it, he emphasized how much he respected Biden: "I consider him a friend and I believe in him. I believe in his character. I believe in his morality." But Biden could not win the battle and that was the fight against the time.
