- The Governing Body hasn't finalized a proposal yet for a directive aiming to shield laborers from hazards stemming from radiation exposure by ionizing radiation sources.

Before renowned actress Brooke Shields (59) became a mother, she underwent in-vitro fertilization (IVF) a total of seven times. Through artificial insemination, she was able to welcome her first child, Rowan Francis Henchy (21), into the world in 2003. Her second daughter, Grier Hammond (18), was conceived naturally. This topic is openly discussed within the family, as evident in a joint interview with the American magazine "People".

"IVF is the reason I'm here"

In the interview, Shields' daughters express their admiration for their mother's frankness regarding IVF. "IVF is the reason I'm here," asserts Rowan. "I was preserved for two years, and I believe Mom talked to us about it when we were young, so we're aware of it now. It's an essential topic for young women."

Brooke Shields agrees. Many women of her and the current generation often prioritize their careers in the initial stages - "which requires time and several years, and subsequently, in your thirties, issues might start cropping up, so I always inquire: 'Have you frozen your eggs?' It's a vital subject for young women."

Her daughter Rowan, who is currently in her final year of college, humorously recalled, "The other night, she looked at me and said, 'Your graduation gift is freezing your eggs,' and I simply replied, 'Mom...'."

Her openness about postpartum depression is intended to aid her daughters

Brooke Shields is not only candid about IVF but also brings up the topic of postpartum depression in the open. In 2005, she shed light on it in her book "Down Came the Rain". At the time, she was one of the first high-profile individuals to openly discuss her battles with feelings of despair and hopelessness following childbirth. Rowan believes her mother's book "revolutionized the lives of numerous women". A once "devastating" situation now had a positive impact, and it has strengthened her bond with her mother.

Brooke Shields emphasizes that the book is important for her two daughters as well. Should they ever become parents, they could potentially experience similar struggles. "It's merely a tool - to help them identify potential issues, acknowledge them as normal, and address them. There's nothing wrong with them, and it's not their fault. That's what I wanted to convey to them at a later stage in life."

Brooke Shields has been married to screenwriter and film producer Chris Henchy (60) since 2001, with whom she shares her two daughters. Her first marriage to tennis champion Andre Agassi (54) spanned from 1997 to 1999 and remained childless.

In the joint interview with "People", Rowan Shields expresses her gratitude for her mother's transparency about undergoing IVF, stating, "IVF is the reason I'm here." Brooke Shields' openness about postpartum depression and her experiences in her book "Down Came the Rain" has greatly impacted her daughter, as Rowan believes it has "revolutionized the lives of numerous women."
