Streaming - The first German AppleTV+ series with Makatsch is coming

On the day before German Unity, the first German-language series of Apple TV+ streaming service holds its premiere. This so-called Dark Comedy, starring Heike Makatsch (52) and Axel Stein (42) in leading roles, bears the English title "Where's Wanda?". The release begins on October 2 with two episodes. Then, every Wednesday until November 13, a new episode of the eight-part series produced by Ufa Fiction will be available.

The series revolves around a couple (Stein and Makatsch) desperate in their search for their daughter Wanda (Lea Drinda), who went missing several months ago. Since the police have failed, the family takes matters into their own hands. The tech-savvy son (Leo Simon) helps with surveillance equipment; the neighborhood and suburbs are ransacked.

The series features a host of acting luminaries, including Nikeata Thompson, Palina Rojinski, Kostja Ullmann, Harriet Herbig-Matten, Devid Striesow, and Joachim Krol.

Apple TV+, founded at the end of 2019 ("Ted Lasso"), competes as a Video-on-Demand service with streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video.

The first Netflix series developed, produced, and filmed in Germany was the global hit "Dark" in 2017. Amazon's first German series was "You Are Wanted", a thriller mini-series starring and produced by Matthias Schweighofer. Disney+'s first German-produced original series, "Sam - A Saxon" was made available in 2023.
