Horror movie series "Saw" - The eleventh part will be released next year
The horror film series "Saw" is getting another movie: Production company Lionsgate has announced that an eleventh installment is already in the works. "The game goes on," reads a corresponding post on Instagram. "Saw XI" will be released in US cinemas on September 27, 2024, which was announced in Roman numerals. Details about the plot or cast have not yet been released.
The last part of the series to date was released in US cinemas in September 2023, while "Saw X" has only been running in Germany since November 30. The film was received positively by most viewers, even after some of its predecessors were harshly criticized by fans and observers. At the box office, the tenth installment was thoroughly convincing and has already easily recouped its production costs of around 100 million US dollars.
Is Kevin Greutert taking over as director again?
The first part of the franchise about the legendary Jigsaw killer was released in 2004. James Wan (46) was the director at the time. Filmmaker Kevin Greutert (58), who was already responsible for editing the first five parts and "Jigsaw", was once again at the helm for the last installment. He also directed "Saw VI" and "Saw VII" and was on board as producer for "Saw: Spiral".
Greutert could also be in charge again in the next installment. After all, in an interview with the industry portal "Filmstarts" in early December 2023, he explained that they were thinking about it, but that it was not a decision that would be made hastily. So at least Greutert seems to be involved in the process for "Saw XI" again.
