The drinking game made royal love official.

Prince William and Princess Kate found each other during their college years, as is well known. But how did their fellow students find out about their love? According to a new book, it was the ex-girlfriend of the heir to the throne who outed them during a drinking game.

That various drinking games are part of the daily life of students is unlikely to surprise many. And the news that the future royal couple, Prince William and Princess Kate, allegedly participated in one during their college years is not a sensation in itself. But the result of the party game, which author Robert Jobson writes about in his new book "Catherine, the Princess of Wales" according to "People" magazine, is. Apparently, the relationship between the two, which had been kept secret until then, became official as a result.

According to the book, William and Kate played a round of "Never Have I Ever". The rules are simple: those to whom the chosen statement does not apply have to take a sip.

In the case of the future royal couple, it was an ex-girlfriend of Prince William who caused his love for Kate to be revealed. The woman, named Carly Massy-Birch, chose the statement: "I've never dated two people in this room." Apparently, she was aware that, in the presence of herself and Kate, only her ex, William, would have to take a sip and thus confirm his relationship with his current wife.

The prank is long forgiven

Although the love between William and Kate was already an open secret at the time, William had not yet officially acknowledged his new girlfriend Kate. Therefore, he is said to have reacted rather annoyed to his ex-girlfriend's clever move.

However, the revelation did not harm William's relationship with Kate or his friendship with his ex-girlfriend. Massy-Birch was among the guests who were honored to attend the lavish wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate in 2011. It is unlikely that the royals participated in any more drinking games at the party afterwards.

The prank by Carly Massy-Birch, revealing Prince William's love for Kate during a game of "Never Have I Ever," may have initially caused a stir, but it eventually became a fond memory.

Despite the initial annoyance, William and Kate's love life remained unaffected, and Carly was invited to their grand wedding in 2011, further solidifying their friendships.
