The artist, who is also active as a comedian, singer-songwriter and illustrator, made the announcement on her TikTok channel. The 43-year-old has already undergone an operation to remove the tumor. "I'm in hospital, but that's because I had surgery yesterday for lung cancer. They caught it very early," Micucci told her fans.
The diagnosis was a "surprise" for her: "It's really strange because I've never smoked a cigarette in my life." She is doing well and the best news is that the doctors recognized her illness early and she has now undergone successful surgery. However, it has still been a "bit of a journey" for her and she will probably have to recover over the next few weeks. But then she will be back at the starting line, says Micucci confidently. She can hardly wait to start painting again.
And she doesn't seem to have lost her sense of humor despite her devastating diagnosis. "Why am I still talking? Because I'm on drugs...", the actress joked with her fans. In another video, she can be seen walking through the hospital with a patient gown and an IV. She later replied to a fan in one of the many comments who wanted to know how she was suspected of having cancer. Her CRP value had been massively elevated during a blood test. A doctor then wanted to examine her heart and discovered a spot in her lung.
Most people know Kate Micucci for her role as Lucy, the girlfriend of main character Rajesh (Kunal Nayyar, 42), in several episodes of the sixth and seventh seasons of "The Big Bang Theory". But she has also appeared in series such as "How I Met Your Mother", "Scrubs" and "Malcolm in the Middle".
