The Big Bang cast bids farewell to Bob Newhart

When she worked with him on TBBT, it became a dream come true for her. "He was professional, suave, witty, and incredibly down-to-earth. Working with Bob meant working in the presence of a true comedy legend. We will miss him deeply!"

Melissa Rauch wrote about two photos from the TBBT set: "The world has lost a legend today, whose style was unmatched by anything that came before it or anything we've seen since. (...) I fell in love with sitcoms watching his shows. I was more nervous than ever to meet my idol on The Big Bang Theory, but he put me at ease with his big warmth and kindness. He made me laugh and filled my heart with memories I will cherish forever."

Kaley Cuoco reminded us of the actor on Instagram Story: "It was a dream to experience the genius that was Bob Newhart. He was elegant, kind, generous, and absolutely hilarious. Every take - every time. An icon for life. I will never forget you, Bob! Thank you for making our dreams come true!" Kunal Nayyar also paid tribute via Instagram Story and wrote about a picture of his deceased co-star: "Professor Proton. Our beloved Bob Newhart. Rest in peace. I will miss you."

"Young Sheldon" star and Sheldon-actor Iain Armitage said in a statement to "People": "Bob Newhart's Professor Proton was inspiring to Sheldon, and his career as an actor was inspiring to me. He will be deeply missed."

Comedy filmmaker Judd Apatow also shared a post to say goodbye. "Bob Newhart was the nicest and funniest man. He asked me to make a documentary about his friendship with Don Rickles. I was fortunate to spend time with my hero. His brilliant comedy and gentle spirit made everyone he met so happy."

Director Paul Feig also wrote on X: "And we lose another comedy legend. I had the honor to guest star on 'Newhart' and spent the week listening to the great Bob Newhart make us laugh. As a brilliant stand-up and comedy actor, he was truly unique. His legacy will live on."

Bob Newhart passed away at his home in Los Angeles on a Thursday, at the age of 94, "after a series of short illnesses." The actor was married to Ginny from 1963 until his death in 2023. He leaves behind four children.
