The band Queens of the Stone Age has called off all their concerts scheduled for the year 2024.
It's a bummer for fans of Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA); the rock band shared on their Instagram that they've had to pull the plug on the rest of their shows for 2024. They wrote, "QOTSA regret to inform you all about the cancellation/postponement of all remaining shows for 2024." The cancelation affects seven U.S. concerts, with four being rescheduled and the rest being straight-up axed.
The band explained that frontman Josh Homme's health issues necessitated their absence. "Josh has to focus on his health and get the medical attention he needs for the remainder of the year," they shared. QOTSA expressed optimism that they'd make a return in 2025 with a fully-recovered Homme.
Homme's health crashes
Just like in July, Homme's health challenges forced them to cancel several concerts, including those in Germany. Their Instagram post from back then read, "Queens of the Stone Age regret to announce that Josh Homme must immediately return to the United States for an emergency operation." The band had been set to perform in Berlin on the 16th. Their last concert was in Milan on July 6. The newly revealed information suggests that Homme and the band will have an extended break from the stage, approximately six months.
The specifics of Homme's operation remain unfathomable from the existing statements. Last year, Homme publicly disclosed his past cancer diagnosis, expressing that he'd successfully overcome it.
Josh Homme started Queens Of The Stone Age in 1996, following the dissolution of his previous band Kyuss. Since then, the band has grown into one of the most renowned alternative rock bands. For years, Dave Grohl, the frontman of Foo Fighters, also played drums for QOTSA and lent his support to the band.
Despite the cancellation of their remaining shows for 2024 due to Homme's health concerns, Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA) remain optimistic about returning in 2025 with a fully-recovered Homme. Music lovers will miss his energetic performances during this extended break from the stage.
