Following her conviction in 2002 for felony grand theft and shoplifting, she was handed a three-year probationary sentence, a fine, and was required to perform community service. She then chose to step away from acting and relocated from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
Initially, she thought she had simply made an innocent mistake, mainly involving "paperwork." But when she discovered that she might face jail time, she was utterly stunned. "I was like, 'What's this?'" she remembered.
