Florence Pugh - That's why she loves filming scenes in bed
There are people who can simply sleep anywhere - no matter how much is going on around them. Actress Florence Pugh (27) seems to be one of those people, as she revealed to podcast hosts Nick Grimshaw (39) and Angela Hartnett (55) on the "Dish" podcast. "I actually sleep best in a room full of people who are getting ready for the next scene," she said in the interview.
"I love scenes in bed"
She doesn't find it difficult to go into her caravan at any time on set to take a ten-minute nap, but she prefers it when she can lie down to sleep directly on set.
"I love scenes in bed," Pugh explains her passion for little power naps in between. "They're the best. You have to lie in bed while everything is being prepared and get ready for what you have to do in bed." When asked if she would rather go to her trailer instead, she always says "no". "I just lie there like a little bean."
In sleep mode with "Lady Macbeth"
Once she actually fell fast asleep: "In my second film - 'Lady Macbeth' [...] In the scene I was supposed to sleep and then wake up after a while [...] I closed my eyes, fell asleep, they started filming and at some point I woke up startled and pretended to be acting, waking up."
The whole team was ready to film, but she was still in sleep mode. Afterwards, the director said to her: "That was good. But I think we'll cut the sleeping part a little next time."
Florence Pugh received several awards for Best Actress for her leading role in "Lady Macbeth". She was also seen in Greta Gerwig's (40) historical drama "Little Women" (2019). Most recently, she played the role of Jean Tatlock in "Oppenheimer" by Christopher Nolan (53).

Florence Pugh shared an amusing anecdote during her interview on the "Dish" podcast about falling asleep on set while filming a scene for her second film, "Lady Macbeth." Despite the director's initial plan to keep the sleeping scene, he eventually decided to cut it back a bit. This incident highlights Pugh's ability to immerse herself fully in her work, even during scenes that require her to sleep, such as her recent role in Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer," where she played Jean Tatlock.
Turning work into play, Florence Pugh has always shown a knack for delivering compelling performances, especially when she's given the opportunity to sleep on set. During the filming of "Lady Macbeth," she demonstrated her dedication to her craft by slipping into sleep mode, even if it meant being caught off-guard by the director's unexpected decision to continue filming.
