Bruce Willis' cult series is streamed - That's why his family is "overjoyed"

US actor Bruce Willis (68) made his breakthrough in the 1980s with the successful comedy series "The Model and the Sleuth". From 1985 to 1989, he played the witty but somewhat simple-minded detective David Addison, laying the foundations for his successful career. In recent years, however, the series, which is simply called "Moonlighting" in the original, has been increasingly forgotten. This was mainly due to the fact that the ABC series was not available on the usual streaming services.

That is now changing: as "People" magazine learned from daughter Rumer Willis (35), the US streaming provider Hulu has now included the series in its program. "We were ecstatic, more than ecstatic, because we've literally only ever seen the series on videotape," says Rumer Willis. However, the whole family is now "overjoyed" that Bruce Willis' original starring role has been made accessible to the masses again.

"The Model and the Sleuth" was not shown in Germany until 1990

"My father had a cupboard filled to the brim with all the episodes on video cassettes," says Willis. It is now a great pleasure not to have to search for the individual episodes on YouTube, but to be able to watch them again and again.

A total of 67 episodes of "The Model and the Sleuth" were filmed in five seasons. In Germany, the series was only shown on RTL plus after its official end in March 1990. Actress Cybill Shepherd (73) took on the female lead role alongside Bruce Willis, who was now suffering from dementia. For Willis, it was the start of his big Hollywood career after a few small series roles. Parallel to the series, he slipped into his most iconic role as police officer John McClane in 1988's "Die Hard".
