Lupita Nyong'o on big moment - That's what she was afraid of at the Oscars

Actress Lupita Nyong'o (41) had many thoughts during the 2014 Oscar Awards. One thing in particular bothered her, as she has since revealed.

She didn't want to copy Jennifer Lawrence

In an interview with the US magazine "People", she confessed that she was very nervous at the gala where she was eventually able to take home the coveted trophy. She won the award for her performance in the film "12 Years a Slave" as best supporting actress. "I still remember thinking about how much fabric I had to hold on the staircase. I thought to myself: 'I can't stumble.' "

Especially since this had happened to a famous colleague: "Jennifer Lawrence had already tripped the year before, so it's not exactly sweet to be the second person to do so on the red carpet. It's embarrassing." Lawrence (33) tripped on her way to the stage in an extravagant cream-colored Haute Couture dress from the House of Dior when she won the award as best leading actress for "Silver Linings" in 2013.

Nyong'o repeated that she "really didn't want to stumble". She also talked about the moment her name was called: "I remember feeling really anxious, and then I remember a pounding feeling in my whole body. It was just so unbelievable."

During the 2014 Oscars, Lupita Nyong'o admitted that she was nervous about not repeating Jennifer Lawrence's infamous fall from the previous year. Lupita Nyong'o's nerves were heightened during the ceremony as she was nominated for her role in "12 Years a Slave," ultimately winning the Oscar for best supporting actress. Lupita Nyong'o's fear of tripping was fueled by Jennifer Lawrence's mishap at the 2013 Oscars, where she infamously stumbled while ascending the stage in a Dior gown to accept the award for best actress in "Silver Linings Playbook."
