Jack Black (54) expresses hope for a reunion with bandmate Kyle Gass (64) following the cancellation of Tenacious D's tour. In mid-June, the actor and singer announced the cancellation of the duo's upcoming concerts after Gass' comments about shooting Donald Trump (78), stating that he would no longer pursue creative plans with him.

Jack Black: "Things like this take time"

At the premiere of his new film "Borderlands", Jack Black struck a different note: "I love Tenacious D. We had to take a break, but I love the D," he told "Entertainment Tonight", adding, "Everyone takes a break. We'll be back."

In an interview with "Variety", Black also stated that he and Gass remain friends. "That hasn't changed. Things like this take time. And when it feels right, we'll be back," he said.

Tenacious D cancels tour: What happened

On July 16, Jack Black wrote in an Instagram statement that he was "surprised by what was said at the show on Sunday." "I would never tolerate hate speech or political violence in any form," he said. After careful consideration, he felt it was not appropriate to continue Tenacious D's tour, and all future creative plans are now on hold.

Gass celebrated his birthday during a Tenacious D performance in Sydney. When prompted by Black to make a wish, he said, "Miss Trump next time." Earlier, a gunman had shot at a political event in Pennsylvania, killing an attendee and injuring Trump.

Gass later apologized for his comment, calling it "highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake." He condemned violence and expressed his regret for his lack of judgment, apologizing "deeply to those I have disappointed, and sincerely regret any pain I may have caused."
