"I vomited blood" - That's how bad Kate Beckinsale really was

A mysterious hospital stay at Easter shocked Kate Beckinsale's 5.6 million followers: The actress (50) posted disturbing images from her hospital bed, lying in a fetal position. She has since deleted those photos from her Instagram account, but now she has spoken extensively about why she spent a total of six weeks in the hospital.

In an Instagram video, wearing a belly-free micro-shirt in soft pink with a hamster print and matching shorts, she defends her weight loss, as trolls on her profile commented that her "butt had run away."

"No, actually I was there when my stepfather (director Roy Battersby, note: the speaker) suddenly and suddenly died. My mother has had cancer since stage four, and I lost quite a bit of weight quickly due to stress and grief. I had already shared concerns about my mother Judy Loe with my followers in August 2023," she says calmly.

Kate Beckinsale: "I Bled Profusely"

Beckinsale continues, she spent six weeks in the hospital up until May of this year because the grief "burned a hole" in her esophagus, leading to profuse bleeding.

"I could hardly eat and then worked very hard on a film that also triggered me because it included the theme of my father's death. So I'm not really worried about what you think about my butt," she dismissed the user who mocked her body.

Beckinsale's Hospital Records

The London-born actress announced in March that she had been admitted to the hospital. Later, she revealed with a T-shirt that she was dealing with "gastrointestinal problems" and later explained that she had suffered a tear in her esophagus.

In the past, Beckinsale has made her health issues public. In 2019, a ruptured cyst in her ovaries was discovered. She then revealed that she suffered from mast cell activation syndrome - a systemic disease that can lead to chronic inflammatory conditions.

Traumatic Family Drama

Kate Beckinsale's stepfather Roy Battersby (1926-2024) died suddenly and severely ill at the beginning of the year. She had cared for the director until his death. The loss triggered a post-traumatic stress disorder, as her father, actor Richard Beckinsale, died of a heart attack in 1979 at the age of 32. The then five-year-old Kate found the body.

  1. Despite the public focus on her weight loss, Duchess Kate's Instagram posts were overshadowed by the sudden hospitalization of Kate Beckinsale, sharing disturbing images during her stay.
  2. Interestingly, Kate Beckinsale's hospital stay, which lasted six weeks, started around the same time as Roy Battersby's sudden passing, her stepfather and director.
  3. As the episodes of mast cell activation syndrome resurfaced, Kate Beckinsale's hospitalizations became increasingly frequent, causing profuse bleeding that left her struggling with eating.
  4. Sharing her personal struggles on Instagram, Kate Beckinsale revealed that her mother, Judy Loe, had been battling stage four cancer, causing additional stress and weight loss.
  5. Reminiscing about her past, Kate Beckinsale recounted the traumatic loss of her father, Richard Beckinsale, who passed away at a young age, leaving her with a deep sense of grief and post-traumatic stress.
  6. Despite the challenges, Kate Beckinsale has remained resilient, pushing through her health issues and returning to work, showcasing that strength can emerge from even the most challenging spring seasons.
