Daughter of MS sufferer Christina Applegate - That was the hardest thing after the diagnosis
Christina Applegate's (52) daughter Sadie (13) spoke about the harsh effects of her mother's illness during an appearance on the "MeSsy" podcast, which Applegate co-hosts with her acting colleague Jamie-Lynn Sigler (43). The 13-year-old shared that certain things have been "really hard" for her since her mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2021.
"I remember when I was a child, we used to dance for hours in her room every night," Sadie said. "It was hard to see how my mother lost many of the abilities she had in my childhood... It's just really hard to watch her go through that."
Sadie also explained that it's "nice" to be able to support her mother in various ways, but she's not always willing to let her daughter help when she uses a wheelchair. Apparently, the 52-year-old is afraid of her falling, as they jokingly revealed.
"I feel incredibly guilty"
During the podcast episode, Christina Applegate, who gave birth to Sadie with her husband Martyn LeNoble (55) in January 2011, expressed feelings of guilt as a parent when she has difficult days due to her illness. "I don't want you to ever feel that I'm not able to be your guardian, your mother," the actress told her daughter. "I love you, I want to make you food, I want to bring it to you, I want to do all these things. And I do it when I can, and I feel incredibly guilty when I can't."
Sadie also shared her own health issues during the podcast. She revealed that she was recently diagnosed with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), which can cause circulatory problems. "I feel like if I didn't have this thing, it would be much harder to understand what my mother is going through," she said. Sadie also suffers from Misophonia, a sensitivity to certain sounds, which she further explained.
