Zac Efron - Thanks to Matthew Perry at the "Walk of Fame" speech
Zac Efron (36) remembers a deceased colleague at the unveiling of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In his speech on Monday, the "High School Musical" star paid tribute to Matthew Perry, with whom he filmed "17 Again" in 2009. Perry was found dead in the hot tub of his home on October 28. He was 54 years old.
"I also want to mention someone who is not here today," said Zac Efron, according to media reports. He was referring to Matthew Perry, "who was so kind and generous to me when we worked together on '17 Again'". According to Efron, working with the "Friends" star was "so much fun" and "really pushed him and motivated him in many ways".
"I think about you a lot today"
"It really catapulted me into the next chapter of my career, and I thank you so much for that, Matthew," said Efron. And: "I think of you a lot today."
In "17 Again", Zac Efron played the younger self of Matthew Perry. He was apparently so taken with it that shortly before his death, he expressed the wish that Efron should play him in a biopic. Perry's good friend Athenna Crosby (25) revealed this in an interview with "Entertainment Tonight".
Zac Efron was "honored" by the idea of his older colleague, as he told "ExtraTV": "It would be great to do it".
