Test match against Turkey: The DFB team in the individual critique

he German national soccer team suffered a bitter defeat on the home debut of national coach Julian Nagelsmann.

The 2:3 (1:2) defeat against Turkey in Berlin's sold-out Olympic Stadium with 72,592 spectators was a bitter mood dampener seven months before the kick-off of the home European Championship.

The DFB team in the individual critique:

Trapp: Ter Stegen's replacement had to make his first save in the 17th minute and was often involved in the build-up play. Powerless in the first goals conceded, still there for the penalty.

Henrichs: Played a key role in the opening goal with a good pass to Sané (5th minute). Lacked coordination with the Bayern professional when he conceded the first goal.

Tah: Initially more solid as an organizer than his partner Rüdiger. Overall, however, part of the often overstretched defense.

Rüdiger: Uncertain at the start, then won his duels. But was unable to give his back four any security.

Kimmich: Hardly any accents in the build-up play, the interplay with Gündogan often too static. So not an indispensable six-man, out 20 minutes before the end.

Gündogan: Booed by the Turkish fans, in the 32nd minute the captain cleared the ball in his own penalty area. Rarely involved offensively at first, improved towards the end.

Sané: Prepared the goal (5th) and initiated many attacks down his right flank - but was partly to blame for the first goal conceded (38th).

Brandt: With a few good approaches, often picked up the ball. More courageous in the second half. Missed a great chance to equalize (74'). Off ten minutes before the end.

Wirtz: One of many creative players deprived of his Leverkusen strengths, but with a strong solo run before the 2:2 (49'). Replaced before the final phase (71).

Havertz: Required as a left-back in defense, therefore with many kilometers. Offensively equal goalscorer (5). Conceded the penalty for 2:3 (70')

Füllkrug: Barely found his feet in the Nagelsmann system, but then where he needed to be: tenth goal in his twelfth game (48).

Goretzka: Took over Kimmich's role alongside Gündogan for the final phase. No forward action.

Gnabry: Was supposed to make the German game fast in the final 20 minutes. Couldn't make use of his pace. Missed the chance to make it 3:3 (86').

Ducksch: As a substitute and debutant for the final phase of the game (81'). Remained without a chance on goal.

The DFB national soccer team, despite having players like Havertz and Gnabry, struggled against Turkey, ultimately losing 2:3. Nagelsmann's team will need to improve their defense before the Euros, especially with Tah and Rüdiger having mixed performances.

In the aftermath of the match, the DFB team's DFB Cup winner, Füllkrug, managed to score his tenth goal for the national team, demonstrating his consistency in front of the net.
