Oprah Winfrey, who's 70, missed her appearance on the US show "CBS Mornings" on June 11, where she was expected to reveal her latest book club pick. It seems she was struck with a nasty stomach bug that left her in need of medical help.

A Stomach Problem

During the show, co-host Gayle King, who's 69, informed viewers about Winfrey's condition: "She has something going on with her stomach – a stomach flu – it's from both ends." Winfrey ended up in a hospital and received treatment for dehydration, the co-host continued.

This situation is serious, Gayle emphasized. Oprah needs to get well. "I hope she's not mad at me for telling you that." The long-time friends have been sharing a close bond over the years. With Oprah unavailable, the presentation of the book "Familiaris" by David Wroblewski, 65, moved forward in her absence. Earlier, she had shared her thoughts on the book on Instagram.

A representative for Winfrey later confirmed King's statements to the US publication "People." They also provided an update on her health: Oprah is on the mend. She's recovering from her stomach bug and followed her doctor's advice to receive an infusion. "She's feeling better each day," the spokesperson added.
