The Eras Tour - Taylor Swift will be honored on the Gelsenkirchen 'Walk of Fame'}
Schalke legend Rudi Assauer, author Ilse Kibgis – and now pop star Taylor Swift: Gelsenkirchen honors the US singer with a stone on the city's "Walk of Fame." Before the three concerts Swift plays in Gelsenkirchen from Wednesday to Friday, Mayor Karin Welge unveiled the plaque.
"We said we would have three fantastic 'Swiftie' days here in Gelsenkirchen, and then she should get a place for the three days here," said Welge. "Because one thing is clear: She is famous." A few "Swifties" were also present for the unveiling.
The "Walk of Fame" in the district of Buer is usually reserved for personalities of the city. For megastar Swift, Gelsenkirchen makes an exception. The stone will not be permanent, but will be removed after the concerts of her "Eras Tour."
Many attractions for Swift fans
The plaque in honor of Swift is one of many attractions with which Gelsenkirchen welcomes the singer's fans in the city: When the first "Swifties" arrive at the station on Wednesday, they should be greeted by cheerleaders. In the city center, in addition to the "Walk of Fame," there are other places where fans can take photos – for example, at a 90 square meter large 3D image. The heart of the actions is the open-air party "Taylor Town" with karaoke, stage program, and a tattoo stand.
Gelsenkirchen expects around the three concerts approximately 200,000 fans – that corresponds to almost four fifths of the population. Further shows in Germany follow in Hamburg and Munich.
