Music - Tate McRae also sees pitfalls in social media success

Canadian newcomer Tate McRae (20), who celebrated a worldwide hit with "Greedy" in September, is ambivalent about her success on social media platforms. "It's easier to build up a large fan base on social media because you can go viral very quickly on Tiktok," she told the German Press Agency. "But that also makes it harder to be taken seriously as a real artist. Because there is so much music being released every day."

The daughter of a German dance teacher wants to continue to connect with her fans on social media. "But I'm focusing on my art and my brand, because that's what it's all about in the end."

The 20-year-old is releasing her second album "Think Later" this Friday and is going on a world tour in spring, which will also take her to Germany and Austria in April and May.
