Taylor Swift - Swifties make the ground shake in Zurich
Taylor Swift and her fans set the ground in Zurich in vibrations. During the concert at Stadion Letzigrund, eight seismometers recorded shaking as far away as six kilometers, reports the Swiss Seismological Service. There were 50,000 people in the stadium.
"When many people move rhythmically at the same time, this energy is transferred as a harmonic vibration into the ground and can be measured by nearby seismometers," says the Swiss Seismological Service.
The strongest movements occurred around 7:02 PM, when Taylor Swift took the stage. Swifties welcomed their idol with jumping and dancing. Seismic activity was also recorded at earlier Swift concerts.
The phenomenon can also be observed with other bands, according to the Swiss Seismological Service, as well as during football games. "Whether Taylor Swift causes more or less seismic activity than other bands or a football game, which also causes measurable seismic shaking, cannot be determined from the seismic data," the Swiss Seismological Service shared.
Swift is currently on her "The Eras Tour" in Europe. From July 17, she will be in Germany for several concerts.
- Taylor Swift's concert in Zurich, Switzerland, at Stadion Letzigrund, resulted in vibrations felt as far as six kilometers away, as reported by the Swiss Seismological Service.
- The vibrations caused during Taylor Swift's concert were so strong that they were comparable to a small earthquake, as recorded by eight seismometers near the stadium.
- Interestingly, the vibrations from Taylor Swift's concert were not limited to Zurich; similar seismic activities have been recorded at her previous concerts.
- The Swiss Seismological Service noted that the seismic activity caused by Taylor Swift's concert was not unique; similar vibrations can be observed during large gatherings, such as concerts by other bands or football games.
