Braunschweig public prosecutor's office - Suspect in the Maddie case: Arrest warrant against Christian B. lifted in other proceedings
Against British girl Madeleine "Maddie" McCann, who went missing in Portugal in 2007, German Christian B. no longer faces a pressing suspicion due to other charged offenses.
Christian B. remains in prison
The responsible chamber of the Braunschweig Regional Court lifted the arrest warrant in a proceeding running since February regarding three rapes of women and two cases of child sexual abuse. However, since B. is currently serving prison time due to a different conviction for rape, he remains in prison.
Despite the lift of the arrest warrant for Christian B. in relation to Maddie McCann's suspicion of a crime in Portugal, the public prosecutor's office in Brunswick continues to monitor the case. The public prosecutor's office in Germany has not completely ruled out the possibility of charging Christian B. with other offenses in the future. The incident of Maddie McCann's disappearance remains a major topic of public interest in Portugal.
