On Instagram - Surprising coming-out of Ralf Schumacher

The rumors that Ralf Schumacher is homosexual have been circulating for a long time. But now the ex-racer himself admits it: "The most beautiful thing in life is having the right partner by your side, with whom you can share everything." he writes in an Instagram post, which shows him arm in arm with a man. They are looking at the sunset from a boat.

Reality-TV-Star Carmen Geiss revealed more details in a comment: "You have the best partner Etienne, whom one can only imagine. After two years, you can finally show your love to the world."

Ralf Schumacher reportedly came out to friends

At least for Schumacher's friends, the coming-out seems to have been no surprise.

Previously, the 49-year-old was married to Cora Schumacher from 2001 to 2015. Since 2009, the couple lived apart. From this marriage comes their son David, who, like his father Ralf, is a race car driver. On Saturday, David celebrated his first win in the ADAC GT Masters, to which his father also congratulated him on Instagram.

Like his brother Michael, Ralf Schumacher made it into Formula 1. He drove there between 1997 and 2007 for Jordan, Williams and Toyota. The 49-year-old drove a total of 180 races in the King's class of motorsports, but often found himself in the shadow of his older brother, who, with seven titles, is still the record world champion of Formula 1 alongside Lewis Hamilton. Ralf Schumacher managed six wins in the King's class, including a win at the German Grand Prix at Hockenheimring in 2001. His greatest achievements were two fourth places in the World Championship, both years Michael Schumacher became World Champion. After leaving Formula 1, Ralf Schumacher drove for Mercedes-Benz in the DTM between 2008 and 2012. In 52 races, he managed no wins, but only twice did he stand on the podium.

Ralf Schumacher's brother, Michael, also achieved notable success in Formula-1, holding the record of seven titles alongside Lewis Hamilton. Despite the sibling's racing fame, Ralf's partner Etienne hadn't been publicly recognized until recently, as revealed by reality-TV-Star Carmen Geiss. Ralf's brother-in-law, David Schumacher, also follows in the family's racing footsteps, securing his first win in the ADAC GT Masters, an accomplishment celebrated by Ralf on Instagram.
