Surprise birthday greeting on TV

Sandra Bullock discusses life at 60 for the first time, despite fears, she finds it 'damn great'.

- Surprise birthday greeting on TV

A few weeks ago, on July 26, 2024, Sandra Bullock turned 60. Now, she congratulated her good friend Hoda Kotb, who reached the same milestone, on U.S. television. On Monday, the host of the morning TV show "Today" was surprised live on air. ABC played a pre-recorded message from Sandra Bullock.

"I had so many brilliant and funny things prepared for you, for this message that would just blow you away, but you know, girl, I'm just too tired," said Sandra Bullock. But fans need not worry about the actress. She explained: "I was tired because I had to climb the mountain before you got there, to explore the terrain and see how things look, and to get a feel for it so I could inform you."

Turning 60 is "damn great"

And how does it look for Sandra Bullock at 60? "Damn great," she finds, "pretty fantastic." And that's despite what the "Speed" actress says about people seemingly wanting us to fear how it might look when we get there. Then, Bullock used a few expressions that were beeped out on morning television. But, she says, at her age, you can say anything.

Sandra Bullock's TV message came as a surprise, given that the Oscar winner had mostly retreated from the public eye in 2022, after her last film "The Lost City." Last year, her partner Bryan Randall passed away at just 57 from the nerve disease ALS.

After her surprise message on ABC, Sandra Bullock expressed her excitement about turning 60, stating, "It's damn great, pretty fantastic." Later in the broadcast, she shared her thoughts on societal expectations about aging, saying, "People seem to want us to fear how it might look when we get there, but I'm here to tell you, it's not that bad at all."
