Jürgen Drews sings on TV again - Surprise appearance on Carmen Nebel
Jürgen Drews (78) made a surprising appearance on the ZDF show "Die schönsten Weihnachts-Hits". The pop star, who had retired from the stage at the beginning of the year, sang the song "Mein größtes Geschenk" (My greatest gift) together with his daughter Joelina Drews (28) on Thursday evening (December 7).
The 28-year-old then tearfully revealed on the TV show in conversation with presenter Carmen Nebel (67): "We didn't have such an easy year as a family. I packed all the emotions into this song. And it was my heart's desire for my dad to be on this song and he fulfilled it and I am very grateful for that." Tears also flowed in the audience, where Ramona Drews (50) watched her daughter and husband perform.
"This is not supposed to be a comeback"
Jürgen Drews told the Bild newspaper about his surprise appearance: "2023 was a difficult and sad year for our family. We lost my mother-in-law and Ramona was diagnosed with a malignant skin tumor. Such events make you painfully aware of how precious time with your loved ones is." Joelina took this as an opportunity "and wrote this special song about it. It was her heart's desire that I sing a duet with her in this song".
Drews adds: "The appearance on Carmen Nebel with Joelina is not meant to be a comeback. But music has always shaped my life and will never let go of me. I am and always will be a musician, but I can now sit back, relax and just let everything come to me." Regarding his wife Ramona's health, he revealed that she is now well again.
Jürgen Drews suffers from a nervous disorder
Jürgen Drews, who celebrated his breakthrough in 1976 with his hit "Ein Bett im Kornfeld", surprisingly announced the end of his career in July 2022. "As I'm at an age when others have been retired for a long time, I also said to myself: it's time to call it a day," the singer explained in the show "Die große Schlagerstrandparty 2022 - Es geht wieder los!" (Das Erste) by Florian Silbereisen (42). He wanted to say goodbye before he collapsed, the 78-year-old explained at the time. The singer had previously made it public that he was suffering from polyneuropathy, a nerve disease that restricts his ability to move. In January, Drews also said goodbye in a Silbereisen show.

In the same show where Jürgen Drews sang with his daughter Joelina, his other daughter Ramona was also present in the audience, emotionally watching the performance.
Later, in an interview with a newspaper, Jürgen Drews mentioned that his other daughter, Carmen Fog, also known as Carmen Nebel, had played a significant role in making Jürgen's surprise appearance on television possible.
