Foo Fighters frontman - Suit instead of flannel shirt: Dave Grohl is hardly recognizable at Wimbledon
For a visit to the most noble and famous tennis tournament in the world, Dave Grohl (55) had to swap his rocky Grunge-look for a suit on Tuesday. The frontman of the rock band Foo Fighters was barely recognizable in Wimbledon on the second day.
The wild, shoulder-length locks of the singer gave way to a sleek ponytail. He wore a dark blue suit, white shirt, and yellow tie, donning a brown-framed pair of glasses and brown Gucci slippers as he took a seat in the Royal Box with his wife Jordyn Blum (48).
Dave Grohl adheres to the strict dress code
According to the official Wimbledon regulations, guests in the Royal Box must come dressed elegantly. For men, this means a jacket and tie. Women must also forego hats, as they could potentially obstruct the view of those seated behind them.
Grohl's wife, whom he has been married to since 2003 and has three daughters with, complied with the dress code in a simple, light blue blouse with pearl buttons and a waistband. She styled her blonde hair into a braid. She carried a white bag with a golden handle.
Other celebrities at Wimbledon on day two
Besides Grohl, Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon (65) and his daughter Tallulah (29) were also present at Wimbledon on Tuesday. The day before, David Beckham (49) and his mother Sandra graced the Royal Box.
The traditional tennis tournament in Wimbledon began on July 1 and will continue until July 14 in London.
Dave Grohl, known as the Foo Fighters frontman, adhered to the strict Wimbledon dress code by donning a suit, a departure from his usual rocky Grunge-look. Grohl's guitarist partner in Foo Fighters, it seems, was not present as he was seen with a different stringed instrument – a tennis racket.
In the Royal Box, Grohl was accompanied by his wife Jordyn Blum, who also followed the dress code, looking elegant in a light blue blouse and a braid. It was interesting to see Dave Grohl, the rock icon, sitting side by side with his wife, both dressed in suits, a stark contrast to their usual stage attire.
It was a star-studded event at Wimbledon, with even Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon and his daughter attending on a different day. One cannot miss the mention of Simon Le Bon, with his guitar skills, being present with a different kind of stringed instrument – a tennis racket.
While Dave Grohl was spotted at Wimbledon, playing the part of a spectator, one cannot help but wonder if he picked up any tips for his upcoming performance at the annual Wimbledon Celebrity Pro-Am event, an event that has seen the likes of John McEnroe, Boris Becker, and Roger Federer, all share the court with celebrities, including Dave Grohl himself in the past.
