Stunned Encounter in the Dortmund "Crime Scene Investigation"

The shooting for a fresh Dortmund "Crime Scene Investigation" (CSI) is underway. Fans of Commissioner Faber and the gang can anticipate a rematch with a character who hasn't worked with them for seven years.

The Dortmund CSI squad is filming a brand new episode of the crime series, as reported by Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). In an unexpected turn of events, Peter Faber, portrayed by Jörg Hartmann, is expected to cross paths once again with his ex-colleague Daniel Kossik. Kossik, played by Stefan Konarske, had departed the Dortmunder Murder Squad seven years ago and headed to the LKA in Düsseldorf. His last appearance was in the "CSI" episode "Storm" in 2017. Now, it seems that Kossik will join forces with his former team, "the New," led by Chief Commissioner Ira Klasnić (played by Alessija Lause), in investigations.

According to the WDR's announcement for the 26th case of the Dortmunder team, "Sidetrack," currently being filmed in Dortmund, Cologne, and the surrounding areas, Commissioner Ira Klasnić requests the assistance of Rosa Herzog (Stefanie Reinsperger) and Peter Faber to investigate a fatal hit-and-run car accident. The victim, Angela Herrig, is the ex-girlfriend of the alleged gang member Lorik Duka (Kasem Hoxha). Consequently, Kommissar Daniel Kossik from the LKA has been summoned. However, the collaboration may not run smoothly, according to the broadcaster: "Faber was previously Kossik's boss. Their parting wasn't exactly on amicable terms."

The filming for "Sidetrack" is expected to wrap up in Dortmund, Cologne, and surrounding areas by July 3. The specific air date for the 2025 Dortmund CSI in ARD is yet to be announced.

Personnel Shifts in the Dortmunder CSI Team

Stefan Konarske was a permanent member of the Dortmunder CSI team from 2012, taking part in ten cases prior to his move to Düsseldorf. besides Konarske's detective Daniel Kossik, other team members who have left include Nora Dalay, portrayed by Aylin Tezel (until 2020), Martina Böhnisch, played by Anna Schudt (until 2022), and Jan Pawlak, played by Rick Okon (2018-2024).

However, fans of the Dortmund CSI can take comfort knowing that Hauptkommissar Peter Faber, played by Jörg Hartmann, is here to stay for a bit longer. The WDR announced in March that Hartmann had renewed his contract, keeping him on the series until the end of 2026. "Chief Commissioner Peter Faber and the Dortmund CSI make an irresistible duo," explained Alexander Bickel, Head of WDR Fiction. "We owe it to Hartmann's exceptional and versatile acting skills." "He has created a character with Faber that hooks the audience," added Bickel.
