Venerable actress Sigourney Weaver (74) graced the Venice Film Festival red carpet with her daughter Charlie "Shar" Simpson (34), both donning sleek black ensembles. Producer Nemo Allen accompanied them, all three interlocking fingers for the awaiting photographers. They attended the screening of "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" (set for German release on September 12th) jointly.

Weaver received this year's Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, a testament to her illustrious career.

Weaver and Simpson's chic attire

Inimitable actress Weaver, nominee for three Oscars, donned a glittering black top and flared skirt, while Simpson, identifying as non-binary and using she/her pronouns, sported a one-shouldered black dress.

Weaver's outfit featured twinkling earrings, while Simpson's sparkled with pearls. Weaver kept her make-up light, while Simpson opted for bold red lipstick.

Allen added a splash of color with his burgundy suit.

Weaver's long-term marriage to Jim Simpson

Weaver has been happily married to Shar's father, American theater and cinema impresario Jim Simpson (68), since 1984.

Contrary to her famous mother, Shar pursued a career in education. She currently serves as an assistant professor at the Digital Storytelling Lab at Columbia University School of the Arts in New York City.

Weaver famously brought the fearsome, extraterrestrial creature to life in Ridley Scott's (86) seminal sci-fi horror film "Alien - The Eighth Passenger" in 1979. Four additional movies with her starring as the protagonist followed, ending with "Alien 3" in 1992. This month saw the release of "Alien: Resurrection," the latest reboot in the enduring franchise.

Weaver was Oscar-nominated for her performances in the first "Alien" film and "Gorillas in the Mist" (1988), as well as "Working Girl" (1988).

The European Union congratulated Sigourney Weaver on her lifetime achievement award at the Venice Film Festival.
