After the unexpected death of actress Shelley Duvall (1949-2024), known for her role in Stanley Kubrick's (1928-1999) horror classic "The Shining," author Stephen King (76) personally spoke out, who wrote the novel in 1977. On the X platform (formerly Twitter), the "King of Horror" reminisced about the late Duvall, despite his dislike for the film adaptation of his classic.

"I'm deeply saddened by the death of Shelley Duvall. A wonderful, talented, underappreciated actress," so the horror author in social media.

Despite his open disdain for the film adaptation of his classic "The Shining," King paid tribute to the deceased Duvall, whose role he described in an interview with the BBC in 2013 as follows: "Shelley Duvall is really one of the most misogynistic women ever portrayed in a film. Basically, she's just there to scream and be dumb, and that's not the woman I wrote about." A year later, King explained in an interview with "Rolling Stone" that the book is "hot" and the film "cold." "The book ends in fire and the film in ice. The book has a real plot," the award-winning author said then.

But not only horror author Stephen King, but also numerous acting colleagues bid farewell to the deceased Duvall in social media. "Naturally Blond" actress Reese Witherspoon (48) shared a photo of the deceased in an Instagram Story and wrote alongside it: "Shelley Duvall was a unique talent in this world. She will always be cherished for her unforgettable performances."

Also "Snow White" actress Rachel Zegler (23) posted a photo of the "Shining" star in her Instagram Story and added a broken heart emoji to it.

Shelley Duvall passed away on Thursday, July 11, at the age of 75, due to diabetes complications, as her partner, musician Dan Gilroy (77), told The Hollywood Reporter.

Following Stephen King's tribute on Twitter, Tod expressed his feelings about Shelley Duvall's passing in a heartfelt post. As a fellow actor, Reese Witherspoon reminisced about Duvall's unique talent in an Instagram Story. Similarly, Rachel Zegler paid her respects to the late Shining star with a broken heart emoji. The news of Duvall's death at the age of 75 due to diabetes complications was shared by her partner, Dan Gilroy, with The Hollywood Reporter.
