Stefan Raab does it again with RTL

No TV retirement after all? Not long ago, there were reports that he was turning his back on the production company with which he had worked for years. But now RTL is announcing "the next event spectacle from TV mastermind Stefan Raab". Elton is also involved.

Since September, RTL has been the home of the National Football League (NFL) - with regular broadcasts of the events surrounding the flying "egg". When the Super Bowl takes place next year, RTL will be offering a very special encore for all NFL fans. It goes by the name of "American Ice Football" - and is the brainchild of none other than Stefan Raab.

RTL invites 30 celebrities onto the ice.

"We are really looking forward to 'American Ice Football', the next event spectacle from TV mastermind Stefan Raab, hosted by none other than the show quarterback of hearts: Elton," says the spectacular announcement from Inga Leschek, Program Director of RTL and RTL+. "As a warm-up before the 58th NFL Super Bowl, we will have 30 daredevil celebrities slide, stumble and fall across the ice - the best TV entertainment for the whole family," she explains the idea behind the show.

Specifically, four teams are formed in the show with a total of around 30 celebrities. Wearing bowling shoes without treads and protective football clothing, they venture onto an ice rink to hunt for touchdowns. Crashes and pain are to be expected. "Well done to the celebrities who have already canceled, because only the toughest and most athletic will take part," promises RTL, as well as "a spectacular half-time show".

First the show, then public viewing

The show can be seen on RTL and RTL+ from 8.15 p.m. on February 11, 2024, before the Super Bowl takes place and is broadcast live by the broadcaster and its streaming platform. Anyone who would like to attend the "American Ice Football" and then the public viewing of the NFL final in Mannheim's SAP Arena can secure tickets now.

Stefan Raab is producing the show for his company Raab TV in cooperation with Brainpool. This comes as a surprise after the news that Raab's collaboration with the production company would end at the end of 2023 after 25 years only made the rounds in mid-October. However, the 57-year-old former entertainer, who retired from TV screens in 2015, does not want to retire from the TV business quite yet.

Despite reports of his retirement, Stefan Raab continues to work with RTL, announcing a new event spectacle. RTL has been broadcasting NFL events since September, and next year's Super Bowl will have a special encore titled "American Ice Football," a concept created by Stefan Raab. This ice hockey-inspired event will feature celebrities competing in teams and will be aired on RTL and RTL+.
