"Stars in the ring" ends in the emergency room for celebrities
In "Stars in the Ring", celebrities dare to perform breathtaking acrobatics, magical magic and funny clowning at Munich's Circus Krone. But several stars suffer injuries during rehearsals - some of them serious.
The circus is in town, or rather on TV, as it is every year. In "Stars in the Ring", artists and showmen combine their skills with those of numerous celebrities. This year, two co-stars, Rúrik Gíslason and Henning Baum, ended up in the emergency room.
Baum had torn his biceps tendon during rehearsals. "The two of us were supposed to catch an artist who had jumped from a height of around three meters. In the process, my biceps tendon ruptured, despite the best training and preparation," Baum told Bild newspaper. Rúrik Gíslason also had to go to hospital. The former footballer and "Let's Dance" winner broke his hand during training.
Three other celebrities escaped with injuries. Presenter Cathy Hummels presented the newspaper with several large hematomas. Hummels only had 48 hours to train for her acrobatic feat. "It was a tough training session, but I had the best time and had fun. My trainer Lena was great. 'No pain, no gain' was our motto," she told Bild. "I was six meters in the air at the end, unsecured. It was really indescribable. Despite the pain, bruises and abrasions, I would do it again any time."
Actress Susan Sideroupolos also complained of bruises and "mega-monster sore muscles". Influencer Sarah Harrison also got off lightly with bruises on her back.
In "Stars in der Manege" (January 2/SAT.1), stars dare to perform breathtaking acrobatics, enchanting magic, fun clowning, action-packed whips and much more at Munich's Circus Krone. The show is hosted by Jörg Pilawa. At the end, the audience decides whose circus performance has impressed them the most.
