Star Wars - Star Wars star has Basedow's disease.

Daisy Ridley (32) has revealed that she received the diagnosis of Graves' disease, also known as Morbus Basedow, in September of last year. This autoimmune thyroid disorder has changed the life of the "Star Wars" actress.

Ridley noticed something was wrong with her health while filming the thriller "Magpie" in 2023. "I thought, 'Well, I've just played a really stressful role. That's probably why I feel so bad'," she recalls in an interview with American "Women's Health", which she proudly posts on Instagram.

At the time, Daisy Ridley was experiencing heart palpitations, unintentional weight loss, fatigue, and her hands were trembling. Her GP referred her to an endocrinologist, who eventually made the diagnosis.

Medication, Massages, and Other Meals

Since then, the London-born actress has been taking medication daily and has prescribed herself regular wellness treatments such as infrared saunas, cryotherapy, massages, acupuncture, and baths. She tries to eat gluten-free, which may help reduce inflammation. "I'm not very strict, but in general, I feel better avoiding gluten," she says.

Graves' disease is an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid. It causes the body to produce too many thyroid hormones. Although anyone can contract Morbus Basedow, the diagnosis is often made more frequently in women. Symptoms can include an increased heart rate, excessive sweating, trembling, sleep disturbances, or weight loss.

Daisy Ridley's revealing diagnosis of Graves' disease, a condition often associated with her role in "Star Wars," has led her to embrace a healthier lifestyle, regularly posting about her wellness journey on Instagram. Despite filming demanding roles like the thriller "Magpie," Ridley's Graves' disease symptoms became apparent, including heart palpitations, weight loss, and hand tremors.
