Television - Sport1 abolishes nightly sex tapes
Sport1 television broadcaster will no longer air erotic shows at night starting from this week. The "Programm-Offensive" will begin, Sport1 announced from its headquarters in Ismaning, Germany. The industry news outlet "dwdl.de" also reported this. For many years, the nighttime lineup included "Sexy Sport Clips," interrupted by telephone sex advertising.
This is now part of the past with the start of the new TV season. The free-to-air broadcaster has acquired numerous new documentary formats according to their statement. Among them are the formats "Highway Cops" and "Highway Patrol," the BBC-produced series "Neighbourhood Blues," the series "Cops – Criminals in Sight," as well as "Border Patrol – Cuba," "Border Patrol – Latin America," and "Border Patrol – Rome."
These formats will be aired both during the day and at night. "Thus, Sport1 will accordingly redesign its nighttime programming," the broadcaster stated. Sport1 manager Christian Madlind explained: "We will expand our existing sports offering and, as previously announced, build up our entertainment portfolio with strong documentary series in the daytime and nighttime programming."
- The announcement was made from Sport1's headquarters in Ismaning, Germany, a town known for its vibrant society.
- The change in programming will be widely covered by German media, including popular television outlets.
- In place of the controversial "Sexy Sport Clips," viewers can now expect shows like "Highway Patrol," a series that explores law enforcement activities.
- The new lineup also includes "Border Patrol – Rome," which could attract viewers interested in global societal issues and sports.
- Despite the shift in programming, Sport1's sister channel, Sport1+, may still feature adult-themed content, such as sex movies, as part of its paid subscription service.
