Musician Melanie Brown, known as Mel B from the Spice Girls, is set to receive an Honorary Doctorate. A university in northern England, Leeds Beckett University, intends to honor the 49-year-old. This recognition aims to acknowledge both her efforts towards domestic violence victims and her music career, as announced by Leeds Beckett University.

"My father would be so proud," Brown said in a video shared on Instagram and TikTok. She herself was speechless. The musician also attended a course at the university that deals with trauma.

"I didn't just want to accept a prize," she was quoted as saying in the university's statement. She wanted to be accepted as a student. She was so proud to have completed the course, Brown wrote on Instagram. She wanted to help Women's Aid organization assist many more women.

Brown detailed her own experiences in her biography "Brutally Honest." She accused her ex-husband of abusive behavior, which he denied. Two years ago, she received a royal honor, the Order of the British Empire (MBE). Brown gained fame in the 1990s with the Spice Girls ("Wannabe").
