Sophia Thomalla sees Alexander Zverev lose

This time, Alexander Zverev had something to show in Wimbledon. At first, things were going well for him in the quarterfinals against Taylor Fritz. But then the game took a turn. His girlfriend Sophia Thomalla had to witness this on the tribune.

When Alexander Zverev enters the Wimbledon quarterfinals against American Taylor Fritz on Sunday, his girlfriend Sophia Thomalla, of course, cheers him on from the tribune. But as loudly as she may have supported him - unfortunately, it was all in vain. The German suffered a five-set loss in a dramatic match.

Pictures from the game show Thomalla pressing her thumbs up for her boyfriend. While she seems focused on the match in some of the photos, in others she is seen with her fist raised high and her mouth wide open.

Eventually, Thomalla had to watch as the game turned after the first two sets, in which Zverev was still looking good. After giving away his 2:0 set lead, he ultimately lost 6:4, 7:6 (7:4), 4:6, 6:7 (3:7), and 3:6.

"I don't need a babysitter"

It was not the first time Thomalla wanted to support her boyfriend during one of his matches. She is usually present in the crowd during Zverev's games.

The two have been together since 2021. In the documentary "Zverev - The Incomplete," Zverev revealed last year that they had met through mutual friends. "Sometimes you talk to someone and think, 'Whoa, this could be something.' And then it just happens suddenly," Thomalla said.

Zverev is "definitely very, very emotional privately," Thomalla reported, adding, "I don't need a babysitter. I need someone I can call 24 hours a day and vent to. And he can do that very well." When Zverev needs to vent after his Wimbledon loss, Thomalla will surely be there for him.

Despite the support from celebrity couple Sophia Thomalla and Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, Zverev faced a tough defeat against Taylor Fritz, losing in a five-set match. Thomalla, frequently seen in the crowd during Zverev's tennis matches, was present at Wimbledon to cheer her boyfriend on. As a celebrity couple known for their open relationship, Thomalla's role as a source of emotional support for Zverev is crucial, especially after a disappointing loss.

In the end, she too was left disappointed.
