Frank Zander in hospital - Son comments on his state of health
Music star Frank Zander (81) is struggling with health problems shortly before Christmas. On December 11, he was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Berlin. His son Marcus has now given an update on the singer's state of health in an interview with "RTL".
His father is currently undergoing intensive examinations in hospital "and the doctors have been hopeful since midday today that they may have found the problem", he announced. The exact diagnosis is not yet one hundred percent certain, but if all goes well, "he will be fit again quickly and one hundred percent", Marcus Zander continues. His father also let it be known: "'A real' Berlin veteran doesn't break down that quickly. He'll be fine again!"
How did the hospital stay come about?
Frank Zander had to be taken by ambulance to the Martin Luther Hospital in Berlin on Monday. Marcus Zander confirmed this to the "B.Z.". After a television show on December 1 and a previous corona infection, his father's physical condition had become "worse day by day".
He could hardly get out of bed in the morning and had hardly any appetite. His family doctor then pulled the ripcord and urgently recommended that Frank Zander be admitted to hospital by ambulance.
Christmas party takes place
Frank Zander explained in a short statement: "I could think of something better than having to go to hospital before my Christmas party for the needy and homeless." But there was no other option: "I was getting weaker and weaker. And now I'm being completely checked over here."
The Christmas party, which he has been organizing for the homeless and needy since the 1990s, will definitely take place on 22 December at the Estrel Hotel in Berlin, Marcus Zander emphasizes in the RTL interview. If his father is unable to personally welcome the guests to the "heartfelt family celebration for the poorest of the poor", he and his son Elias will stand in.
