For a cool $20.5 million (approximately €19 million), Ben Affleck (51) has snapped up a new luxury villa in Los Angeles, where he will reside sans his soon-to-be-ex-wife Jennifer Lopez (55), following reports that the couple is on the brink of divorce. New photos obtained by the British Daily Mail give a glimpse into the opulent and impressive abode.
The 575 square meter property is situated in the star-studded Pacific Palisades neighborhood. According to a report by People magazine, Affleck finalized the purchase contract on J.Lo's 55th birthday, July 24. However, the double Oscar winner is said to have taken out a $10 million (around €9.2 million) mortgage to seal the deal.
Affleck's lavish new digs in Los Angeles
The Daily Mail reports that the impressive villa was built and designed in the early 1940s by renowned architect Cliff May (1909-1989). The previous owners spared no expense in renovating the building, which now boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms, a large garden with a pool and pool house. The exterior features a blend of rustic stone tiles and crisp cream paint, while expansive windows with black steel frames flood the interior with light.
The rooms are bright and modern, with warm hardwood floors and wooden beams adorning the high ceilings. Marble bathrooms, a fireplace, a sprawling kitchen, and an open staircase are among the standout features of Affleck's new home.
Divorce papers reportedly ready
The couple's decision to sell their shared Beverly Hills mansion was made public in mid-July, with the property listed for sale on the real estate portal Zillow. Just days ago, multiple insiders told the Daily Mail that Affleck and Lopez's divorce papers are ready but have not yet been filed. They are reportedly waiting for the right moment.
