Ross Antony turns 50 - Six facts about the bird of paradise

Ross Catterall (50), born on July 9, 1974, in Bridgnorth, England, was destined for stardom. His grandmother loved singing, "My mom sewed theater costumes, my dad sang in a choir, and my sister was a costumer designer," he told the "Kurier" in an interview. It's no surprise then that the little Ross made his first stage appearance at the age of three. He soon began singing and dancing lessons.

After graduating from school, Antony turned his hobby into a profession with a three-year training at the "Guildford School of Acting." His career began as a musical actor, but today he is a very successful German Schlagersinger. In 2001, the musician won the RTLzwei casting show "Popstars" and became a member of the band Bro'Sis alongside Giovanni Zarrella (46), Indira Weis (44), Hila Bronstein (40), Shaham Joyce (45), and Faiz Mangat (43).

Chameleon in Music

Ross Antony is a chameleon, not just because of his colorful clothes. He has changed genres several times: His career started as a musical actor, and today he is a very successful German Schlagersinger – and then there's his stint as a popstar. In 2001, the musician won the RTLzwei casting show "Popstars" and became a member of the band Bro'Sis.

Their first single "I Believe" sold over a million copies, and a total of four million record players were sold. Live performances sent fans into a frenzy for years before Bro'Sis disbanded in 2006 due to "musical differences." "We had five fantastic years together, despite our differences. And nobody expected us to last that long," Antony recalled in a conversation with the magazine "Bunte." A comeback, however, he definitively rules out.

Jungle King despite Giant Fear

After the end of his popstar career, Antony entered "Dschungelcamp" in 2008. Laughed at by viewers and audiences as a howler monkey, he had to face five jungle challenges - and succeeded brilliantly, as "Rambo-Ross" won the show despite his many phobias. "I was afraid of rats, snakes, spiders, and especially heights, and I thought if I confronted everything directly, it would help me, and it did," he summarized in "Bunte."

After the show, the singer was finally recognized in public as an entertainer. He sees it today as the "trampoline" for his success and has no regrets. The jungle was "after Bro'Sis the best decision of my life. I have profited greatly from it."

His Husband is also a Musician

His husband, too, is a musician. Antony married the singer Tommi Stahl in 2015. They met in 2013 during the recording of the RTL show "Sing meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert." Since then, they have been inseparable and have often performed together on stage. Their love story is a source of inspiration for many fans.

Nature Lover and Baker

In his private life, Ross Antony is a loving family father and husband, a nature lover, and an amateur baker. He enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, and baking delicious cakes for his loved ones. His passion for baking even led him to participate in the ProSieben show "Bake Off – Das Hörfunk-Star-Baking-Show" in 2018. Despite the intense competition, he managed to reach the final round and was praised for his creativity and dedication.

Birthday Celebration

On July 9, Ross Antony will celebrate his 50th birthday. A day filled with love, family, and friends. He looks back on a successful career and a fulfilling personal life. The Paradise Bird is ready for a new chapter, filled with love, nature, and the joy of baking.

Ross Antony has been in a relationship with Paul Reeves since 2006 and has married him three times. Reeves is also a musician and works as an opera singer, he has also toured with Star-Tenor Paul Potts (53) before. While his husband gleams on stage, Reeves is more cautious. "He thinks I'm a little eccentric (laughs). But he loves it. Opposites attract. He is the calm and intelligent one in our family", Antony told the Cologne newspaper "Express" about his love secret.

Together, the couple has adopted two children, whom they kept out of the public eye since 2015 and 2017. The gender and names of the children are unknown.

Experience in the Hospitality Industry

Apart from singing, dancing, acting, and moderating, Ross also has another passion: he has run several businesses in the hospitality industry throughout his life. In 2014, he opened the café "Chillax" in his hometown of Siegburg, where he also worked there himself. Along with his husband, they also ran a Bed & Breakfast in English Wallingford, which they eventually sold due to Brexit.

Today, Antony and Reeves have accommodations again, this time in the county of Cornwall. There, they rent out the "Ross Antony Lodges," two vacation homes, which they also partly inhabit with their family.

Great Passion for Baking

Fittingly, Ross Antony's favorite hobby is baking. Since he reached the finale of "The Great British Bake Off" in 2020, his passion for sweet pastry creations has ignited. He has since published three baking books, in which he presents his best German and British recipes, some of which he shares with his mother Vivien. "I've realized I have a little talent for it. I enjoy the precision of baking, the decorating, and I just love cakes," he told the Austrian "Kleine Zeitung." While baking, he can really unwind and escape into his own world.

His Birthday Month is July

Will Ross Antony bake his birthday cake for his 50th birthday? For this round milestone, he has big plans, as he celebrates it for an entire month in the houses in Cornwall with his friends and family. "The whole July, my friends and family will come in stages to visit us there, so we can celebrate my birthday together. It will be a lot of fun for everyone," the jubilarian told the women's magazine "Woche heute." On the agenda are restaurant visits, a picnic, and horseback riding at the beach.

The birthday child now looks forward to this new chapter in life with a relaxed attitude: "I had a little fear of turning 50, but my mother gave me some wise advice: I should be grateful that I can even turn 50. That's not self-evident."

Ross Antony, celebrating his 50th birthday in July, recalls his grandmother's love for singing and his familial ties to show business. Born in Bridgnorth, England, he started performing on stage at the age of three, later receiving singing and dancing lessons. His career took a turn after graduating from the Guildford School of Acting, where he specialised in musical acting.

Ross Antony's journey in show business led him to win the RTLzwei casting show "Popstars" in 2001, becoming a member of the band Bro'Sis alongside his fellow musicians. Their debut single "I Believe" sold over a million copies, making Bro'Sis a popular sensation. However, the band disbanded in 2006 due to "musical differences."

Antony's post-popstar career took an unexpected turn when he entered the German reality show "Dschungelcamp" in 2008. Overcoming his fears, he won the show and was subsequently recognised as an entertainer in public life. Ross Antony's grandfather was from Great Britain, and he shares this heritage with his husband, the singer Tommi Stahl, whom he met in 2013 and married in 2015.

The couple has two adopted children with whom they avoid public scrutiny, and Ross Antony is also a successful German Schlagersinger. Apart from his music career and family life, he has also ventured into the hospitality industry, opening cafes and Bed & Breakfasts in several locations.

Antony's love for baking has become a passion, leading him to participate in the ProSieben show "Bake Off – Das Hörfunk-Star-Baking-Show" and, ultimately, publishing three baking books. The July birthdays of both Giovanni Zarrella and Ross Antony allow for joint celebrations, making for a memorable occasion in the lives of these talented singers.
