At the premiere of her new film "It Ends With Us", Lively wore a Versace creation that should be familiar to attentive fans. She chose a colorful, glittering dress from the Italian fashion house that Spears wore to a Milan fashion show in 2002. "It's actually Britney's dress," she told People magazine. "It should be in the Smithsonian [Museum] or the Met [Metropolitan Museum of Art], but I'm wearing it."
On her Instagram account, Lively paid tribute to her musical idol with warm words. "The ultimate queen who made us all shine and write and share our stories," she said of Spears, posting a picture of Spears in the Versace dress. "Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories," she said. Speaking to "Extra TV" on the red carpet, she revealed that Spears means a lot to her.
"She was just someone who represented love and beauty and youth and hard work and determination and strength," Lively said. "She told her own story in her own way, and how she's doing it now with her biopic... Britney has always meant so much to me. I'm a lifelong Britney fan," the actress said.
When she found out she could wear Spears' dress from 2002, she was thrilled.
