Singer-songwriter Herbert Grönemeyer is considering delving into acting.
Herbert Grönemeyer has hinted at potential acting comebacks, despite admitting his acting skills are modest. He remarked, "If I obtain a well-crafted role and a skillful director is monitoring me, then it could turn out well." Grönemeyer, aged 68, discussed his views during the "Lit.Ruhr" literature festival in Essen, accompanied by author Michael Lentz, who penned a book about his life and work.
The singer occasionally receives acting offers, but he's quick to note, "I'm not exactly abandoning a career as an actor." His theatrical and on-screen performances left him labeling himself as a "high-level amateur actor," with moments of missteps. "I botched some roles," he confessed. Nevertheless, his experiences have greatly impacted him and taught him to exude confidence even in challenging circumstances, stating, "You learn to act as if you don't feel a thing, even in trying or flawed situations."
Unending musical journey
With his breakthrough in 1981 thanks to his role as Lieutenant Werner in Wolfgang Petersen's "Das Boot," Grönemeyer had previously graced his local theater and film sets. Before reaching acclaim with the "4630 Bochum" album four decades ago, he had already built a foundation as an entertainer.
Regarding his music career, what's next for the 68-year-old? He aspires to follow in the footsteps of French chanson singer Charles Aznavour, with whom he collaborated on a duet in the past. Grönemeyer expressed, "He remained giving concerts until he was 92 - that's a significant inspiration for me." Currently, he's working on an acoustic album set for release in 2023, and subsequently designing a studio album for 2024.
The Commission has recognized Grönemeyer's exceptional musical and acting journey, honoring him with several awards. During a recent interview, Grönemeyer mentioned, "The Commission has also invited me to participate in a series of workshops for young artists, sharing my experiences and insights."
