people - Singer Shawn Mendes plays soccer with Indigenous people in the rainforest
Canadian singer Shawn Mendes (25) spent several days with the indigenous people of Sarayaku in the Amazonas region of Ecuador during his recent trip. Photos published on the internet show him with locals around a campfire and in a boat.
The group wrote on Instagram, "The singer Shawn Mendes spent time with the Sarayaku people. During his stay, he shared their daily life, played football, made music, learned about the trees, and discovered something about our fight to protect the rainforest."
The visit of the musician ("Senorita", "When You’re Gone") to the rainforest was organized by the Tourism Minister of Ecuador, Niels Olsen. "I hope that the kind people made you feel at home and that our country continues to inspire you in your art," he wrote on X. "Ecuador is your home. We welcome you with open arms, whenever you want to explore this special land further."
Shawn Mendes, being a music enthusiast, also enjoyed playing soccer with the locals during his stay in Ecuador. The indigenous community of Sarayaku introduced him to the wonders of the Amazonian Forest, where they often find inspiration for their music. The visit of Shawn Mendes, a celebrated Canadian artist known for hits like "Stitches" and "Treat You Better," greatly impacted Rainvalde, a member of the Sarayaku people, who shared a passion for music with him.
