"Godmother of Punk" Patti Smith - Singer released from hospital again
Patti Smith (76) is apparently on the mend again after her hospitalization in Bologna. As the Los Angeles Times reports, the singer was able to leave the clinic again on Wednesday. Previously, her concert planned for December 12 had to be canceled for health reasons. Further appearances have also been canceled for the time being.

The singer-songwriter known as the "Godmother of Punk" was discharged from hospital after a day. This was announced by the local health authority in Bologna, according to the Los Angeles Times. Patti Smith was discharged "after a short period of observation in the emergency room" and is "in good health". The medical team also stated that the artist would be able to return to the stage after an "appropriate rest period". The newspaper also published a picture of the singer laughing with hospital staff.
The singer suddenly fell ill in the middle of her Italian tour on Tuesday. She had actually been due to perform at the Duse Theater in Bologna that evening. In a statement on Instagram, the theater explained: "It is with great regret that we inform the audience that Patti Smith's concert cannot take place due to a sudden illness of the artist." The exact health circumstances that led to her hospitalization are not yet known. However, on Wednesday, the day she was discharged from hospital, she posted an Instagram post again to commemorate the birthday of singer Tom Verlaine, who died in January and would have turned 74 on December 13.
Patti Smith has been on tour in Italy for days. She has already performed in Modena, Naples, Pescara and Ancona. Her last performance to date took place on December 11 in Siena Cathedral. Not only the concert in Bologna has been canceled, but also her upcoming appearances in Venice and Milan. It is still unclear whether the dates will be rescheduled.
