Simon Cowell attributes his recovery from a possible decline to his son.

Simon Cowell, a producer and judge on "America's Got Talent", opened up about his life on "The Diary Of A CEO" podcast. He shared how the loss of his parents, Julie in 2015 and Eric in 1999, had a significant impact on him. He felt like he had reached a point where nothing mattered anymore.

"I was in a downward spiral after losing my mom," Cowell said. "I'd lost everyone – my parents. It was like, what's the point? Nothing was important anymore."

Cowell described his response to his parents' deaths as "being a ridiculous workaholic". While he was successful, he admitted that he wasn't happy. But that all changed with the news that his partner, Lauren Silverman, was pregnant with their first child.

"When Lauren called and told me she was pregnant, it completely turned my life around," he said. "It made me happy again."

Their son, Eric, was born in 2014. Cowell concluded that becoming a dad was the best thing that ever happened to him.

"Without a doubt, being a dad saved me," he said. "I was at a point where nothing mattered anymore. I can barely remember that time in my life."
