Brooke Shields (59) began her career in front of the camera as a young teenager, both as a model and actress. The controversial Calvin Klein ad campaign from 1980, featuring the tagline "Want to know what's between me and my Calvins? Nothing," not only launched her career but also solidified Calvin Klein's status as a fashion powerhouse. Now, the actress is auctioning off the legendary jeans from that iconic campaign.

As part of Studio Auctions' "From Bombshells to Blasters: An Auction You Can't Refuse," Shields' jeans will be up for bid alongside other memorabilia from famous films like "Star Wars" and personal belongings of icons such as Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, and more. In addition to her famous jeans, Shields will also auction off her personal script from the 1980 film "The Blue Lagoon" and a cheerleading sweater from her high school days.

Controversial Advertising

When the Calvin Klein campaign was released in 1980, Shields was just 15 years old. Critics took issue with the provocative tagline of the TV ad: "Want to know what's between me and my Calvins? Nothing." Despite her young age, Shields and Klein have stood by the ad ever since. In 2023, Klein told "People," "It was funny, innocent, and yes, damn sexy."

In her 2023 podcast "Now What?", Shields revealed that her mother had kept three of the original jeans from the ad campaign. One was donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, while the others remain in her possession. Now, the jeans have the chance to find a new owner. The auction featuring Shields' items will take place from October 25 to 27.

Shields will be auctioning off the actual jeans from the iconic Calvin Klein advertisement, which became a significant part of her career and reinforced Calvin Klein's position as a fashion authority. The legendary jeans, now available for bidding, have been kept safe by Shields' mother for decades.
