Singer Ela Steinmetz - She speaks about her secret wedding

Ten years ago, singer Ela Steinmetz (31) represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest with her band Elaiza and celebrated her musical breakthrough with the song "Is It Right." The group finished in eighteenth place in 2014. Since then, she has continued her career as a singer and songwriter, keeping a low profile in her personal life. She has now revealed for the first time that she has been married for three years.

Small Wedding During the Corona Pandemic

In an interview with "t-online," the musician spoke about her wedding for the first time, which took place three years ago. "We kept it very small. In fact, we got married three years ago. But because of Corona, we were forced to keep it that way." The families were present. "It was wonderful and really something special."

"I don't have to hang this at the biggest bell. For me, it's the innermost circle, and I'm very, very happy. I'm looking forward to the future. Maybe there will be another big party." She is not a party animal. What's important to her is "the people I really love, to have them with me and sit with them at the table, to entertain each other."

She keeps further details to herself. "Yes, that's a conscious decision, to keep all the people from my family out of the public eye - just for protective reasons. My mom is the strongest woman in the world and is always there quietly in the background." Her parents wanted nothing to do with the public eye. "You do get a certain responsibility, and I'm aware of that, and that's why I want to keep the people I love out of it."

New Life in Switzerland

However, she has taken a big step for love: She has moved from Berlin to Switzerland. At the beginning of July, she revealed this news with a small video on Instagram. "Thank you, Berlin, for unforgettable, very formative, and wonderful 16 years," it read there. In addition, she mentioned that she was moving from the German capital to the Basel region. "The last few weeks have had that in store for me, but now everything is on its way. I'm really looking forward to this new chapter in my life."

She is looking forward to "more space for creativity," she added in the "t-online" interview. "I have my own studio." In Switzerland, the musician, who is also active as a solo singer under the name ela., is continuing her work on new music. And soon there will be a reunion in Germany: On September 6, her tour "Es ist immer jemand wach" starts in Hamburg, taking her to eleven cities.
