Evelin Matt, the brainchild behind the hit DDR TV series "Ein Kessel Buntes", has sadly passed away. Reportedly, she was 89 years old, as stated by moderator Wolfgang Lippert to Deutsche Presse-Agentur, sourcing information from her family. Previously, "Super Illu" had already reported on her demise. "Ein Kessel Buntes" held a significant position as a top-tier entertainment program on DDR television, with Matt serving as its influential matriarch.
Lippert shared his sentiments, stating, "The demise of Evelin Matt leaves me in deep sorrow." In his message to dpa, he acknowledged her as a "highly influential individual" in his life. "She was my scout, boss, confidante, and for decades, my wise counsel. I truly miss her!"
Lippert was among the hosts of "Ein Kessel Buntes", which aired from 1972 to 1992, initially on DDR television, and later on ARD. Notable guests from the West also graced the show. Besides Lippert, other hosts included Dagmar Frederic and Helga Hahnemann, followed by Karsten Speck on ARD.

Evelin Matt collaborated with producer Günther Steinbacher to introduce the beloved show to viewers' living rooms, staging it in the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin and other large venues. As per Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), she wasn't just the co-creator of "Ein Kessel Buntes", but also of Lippert's show "Glück muss man haben", broadcast from 1985 to 1997, initially on DDR television and later on MDR. Moreover, Matt oversaw Carmen Nebel and Carolin Reiber's shows, according to RBB.
In 2022, Matt shared with "Bild" newspaper that the show's title initially faced strong opposition. "Back then, we didn't have color television. The first four episodes aired in black and white," she explained. Additional details regarding her passing were not made available at the time.
