Reportedly, she was 89 years old, as stated by moderator Wolfgang Lippert to Deutsche Presse-Agentur, sourcing information from her family. "Ein Kessel Buntes" held a significant position as a top-tier entertainment program on DDR television, with Matt serving as its influential matriarch.

Lippert was among the hosts of "Ein Kessel Buntes", which aired from 1972 to 1992, initially on DDR television, and later on ARD. Notable guests from the West also graced the show. Besides Lippert, other hosts included Dagmar Frederic and Helga Hahnemann, followed by Karsten Speck on ARD.
