"The Big Bang Theory" star Mayim Bialik - She loses her TV job on "Jeopardy!"
Mayim Bialik (48) will not be returning as the host of "Jeopardy!". On Friday, the actress announced in a statement shared on Instagram that she would no longer be hosting the quiz show. "As the Christmas break begins in Hollywood, I have some news about Jeopardy!" she wrote. "Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!"
She added that she was "incredibly honored" to have been nominated for an Emmy for hosting this year, "and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Jeopardy!" family. She concluded her post by thanking the "fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew" who have supported her on "this incredible journey".
There should only be one presenter
Bialik had taken on the role of co-host after the quiz show's longtime host, Alex Trebek, passed away at the end of 2020. In 2021, it was announced that Bialik and Ken Jennings (49) would alternate hosting the show.
On the Instagram page of "Jeopardy!" it now says: "We have made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to ensure continuity for our viewers," and Ken Jennings will be the only host for "Jeopardy!". "We are truly grateful to Mayim for all of her contributions to Jeopardy! and hope to continue working with her on primetime specials."
New project for Mayim Bialik?
However, fans of Bialik may soon be able to look forward to a new project from her. A few weeks ago, she confirmed the remake of her 90s series "Blossom". In an interview with "Vanity Fair", she said that they wanted to bring back these exciting characters. However, she hopes that the reboot will not be a sitcom, unlike the original.
The series was broadcast from 1990 to 1995 and ran for five seasons. The title character is the teenage girl Blossom Russo, whose mother has left the family and who now lives alone with her father and two older brothers. After her early success with "Blossom", Bialik was given the role of Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler in the series "The Big Bang Theory".
