Gundula Gause - She gives the all-clear after a fainting spell

At midday on Tuesday, Wulf Schmiese (56), head of the ZDF news magazine, gave the all-clear. She was feeling better again. A medical examination revealed that there was "no serious cause for the sudden drowsiness", according to the station's homepage.
It also quotes specifically from an email that Gause sent to her colleagues at ZDF at 1:01 a.m. that night. "All-clear. I'm back home. We can rule out anything more serious," she let everyone know. She had previously been checked over in hospital. The Berlin native said of the diagnosis: "It was probably an orthostatic collapse." She went on to explain the reason for her attack of weakness to her team as follows: "Nausea, headaches, dizziness - too little to eat, too little to drink ... And I thought I was going to make it."
Moderation interrupted during live broadcast
Over 4.6 million viewers witnessed the incident on Monday evening. At 10:01 p.m. - around fifteen minutes into the show - Gundula Gause suddenly had problems reading and speaking the news. She stopped co-presenting "heute journal". Dunja Hayali (49), who had spontaneously taken over the moderation for her colleague, was able to announce at the end of the program that Gundula Gause was feeling better again.

"So that she can really recover, Hanna Zimmermann will take over the co-presentation of 'heute journal' this Tuesday," the head of the ZDF news magazine also announced. And added a friendly "We also wish Gundula a speedy recovery and look forward to her next assignment".
